Robert Reed Drawing Workshops @ Penn State

www.robertreeddrawingworkshops.org

February 21-24, 2019

The Robert Reed Drawing Workshops will consist of a total of four days of events which will curate the work of the artist and educator Robert Reed, disseminate scholarship about Reed’s pedagogy, and expose a diverse group of college-level visual art and design students to an innovative drawing curriculum. The workshops will include a three-day event at Penn State and a one-day event in New York City at Hunter College’s MFA Studios and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The Workshops will be composed of lectures, discussion panels, and drawing workshops. The curriculum for the workshops will be based on research of Reed’s pedagogy and taught by Reed’s former students and Penn State faculty. The lectures and panels will focus on key topics related to Reed’s teaching and painting. Concurrent with these events will be exhibitions of Reed’s drawings and collages at the Palmer Museum of Art at the Pennsylvania State University and documents from his teaching archives in the Stuckeman School’s Rouse Gallery. An exhibition will also accompany the New York Workshop.

And it just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t make a lot of drawings in the process!
